Meron and battery life aside, I will be very very happy if Leopard RULES! Been playing with vista and while the bling is a bit fake it does come across as very smooth at the same time. So here is what im hoping:
Good Apple finances
Excellent intel transition
Update on UB pro apps, maybe a quick chat with MS or Adobe about their progress
Long demo of Leopard and its technologies

That brings up a question I was wondering about...since they only offer 1 model that can be customized by Apple...what will the Apple Stores and Authorized Resellers have in stock...Just the base model?
I was also wondering about that. The stores also have additional configurations of the MacBooks and MacBook Pros available. Probably Apple will have three standard configurations in the Stores. The stores could also just customize the machines for the customers. I don't know how easy it is to switch the CPUs, but all the other components, which can be customized, seem to be easily changable.

I sure hope so in the form of a 1GB stick wiht the other slot empty. :cool:
I just went to configure one (makes me happy while I'm waiting) and 1 GIG ram stick was what came with the laptop as the standard option.

I can only see the Macbook Air and maybe the Mac Mini move to ARM. ARM Processors are not ANYWHERE fast enough to meet the current Quadcore i-Processors on the speed.

What's the possiblility of the new mbp being available in stores after the announcement? Is one usually required to order new products online or could I skip the wait by driving an hour to the nearest apple store?
Apple doesn't always have the product available in stores as soon as it's announced, despite that they (Steve) often says "available now." Ordering online or waiting for the store might be about the same amount of time. I know my apple store still didn't have the new ipods when I was in there yesterday, but they did have the new nano's.

Pros and cons to both.m
On desktop, you don't risk kicking it...but it takes up space that can be used for other stuff...speakers, screen, scanner, printer, wacom...
On the floor, it's out of the way, but more risk to kicking it, or, if you have a cup of coffee or something on the desk, you risk it spilling and going in the tower.
I'd put mine on my desk if I had one just because that's how one of the desktop design labs is set up at the college, and I'm just used to that.

But keep in mind that the data might be wrong. I typed in my real name and it came up with me . . . but with details oddly wrong. Multiple accounts that could be me, but in each case with wrong data. I clearly have messed up some databases along the way (good).

I too agree, even though mine is just fine un-jail broken, I do like to know that I could if I wanted to.
Heck I'd like to hack my PS3 for the lols, but then Sony might sue me, so before people start spouting about apple being all controlling (which they some times can be) I think they should look at some other closed systems just to see what other companies do, especially to one of the guys who helped you all Jailbreak your phones before moving onto the PS3.

Sure, it's capactive now, and higher rez, but it's still a bunch of scrollable icons on a phone to launch apps.
Wonder if the tablets they're going for are pre-honeycomb or post? It'd be hard to compare Honeycomb UI to anything Apple's currently doing, and any tablet prior to that, there's surely plenty of prior art android tablets? There were a whole bunch (admittedly lousy chinese cheap rubbish) tablets being demo'd at every tech conference for a year before Apple even admitted they had a tablet to sell.
The tablets have to be included I guess, but it's going to be hard work. The phones are the obvious vector they're going for, they do have UI patents, but when it comes down to it, and other phone manufacturers (or rather their lawyers) see how much money is involved, I can see it getting messy as everyone who had a phone with buttons on it (and there are many) will want to take a shot.

All very nice and I'm fully supportive of more high resolution graphics as soon as possible. It's a shame they don't believe in supporting the millions of Blu-ray discs being sold though, and trying to convince people that 720p iTunes content is good enough for TVs that are bigger than any of the displays they've ever sold, whilst planning for smaller but higher resolution screens that they must apparently believe makes a difference.

Ok...and the MSRP for that phone would be 800 bucks with a 10 year contract with cingular.
People need to realize that apple products are somewhat overpriced so I can see a great apple phone with great features but with a contract the phone is going to be extremely expensive.
Nokia already has phones (their N series (http://www.nokia.com/nseries/index.html?lang=en&country=US#product,n93)) capable of 640x480 30fps vid at $800 unlocked. I don't see an Apple Phone with these capabilities being THAT much more and certainly cheaper if Apple is the provider for the phone service as some people are speculating.

It finds my router within 150 meters. This is something that should _not_ be possible. Apple claims that it is not possible to access the location data on their servers, unless you are an iPhone asking for its location. So you should only be able to get the location of WiFi base stations nearby - but you know their location anyway.
It's inaccurate because it doesn't track YOUR location, just the location of your nearest Cell Tower.
It's not about cell towers, it is about Wifi base stations. And it is not about _your_ location, it is about the location of these WiFi base stations.
