This is really nice. But is it really necessary? How many ppi will it be?

Hi,
I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I will pay up to $5,000 for an Apple branded Tablet Mac.
You can almost have your $5K talet Mac today. Just get a Macbook Pro and one of these from Wacom
http://www.wacom.com/lcdtablets/index.cfm
and plug it into the MBP's USB port. OK the packaging is not so nice. So get a wireless interface between the Wacom tablet and the Macbook that you keep in your backpack.
I think this is what Apple will release basically a "Cintiq" with a macbook inside. Kind of like an iMac is an LCD screed with a mac inside.

Yeah for common ground! Our relationship just hit an inception point and I think things are looking up. :)
Nothing wrong with a fun disagreement, though! Time to hit the hay, have a good night!

This just sold me on the high-res screen for the MacBook Pro I'm looking at.
The $250 for the 2.3 i7 probably isn't worth it, but the $100 for the screen upgrade apparently will be...

They could, but that would be cutting off their nose to spite their face.
Not at all. They can use those components for producing Galaxy devices. And they can use free Foxconn resources (since they would not be assembling iPhones anymore) for assembling. :D

Build a new touch panel factory here in the USA!!!!
(oh wait, then we'd have to pay union employees not to work after 20 years with a budget crippling pension fund)

For me:
48/2(9+3) = 2 though i would want it to be 288
And
48/2 (9+3) = 288
I always hate it when professors leave out the parenthesis for trigonometry.

This just makes me more interested to hear what Apple has come up with. I like the idea of "the cloud" but I'd definitely like to compare Amazon's with Apple's when it is announced in June.

Apple is one greedy corporation that just loves to attack.. typical of the coming corporate takeover of humanity.
Of course! Any company that makes money has to be greedy! Even worse, they keep making the products so darn good, people keep buying them! How frick'n evil and corrupted can you get! If they really cared, they'd produce junk so we'd all stop buying!

Wish Apple did something towards resolution independence and not make images bigger and bigger.
Resolution independence will not stop images from getting bigger. Unless you are dealing with vector art, scaling an image up will decrease quality. Resolution independence will be a function of taking the biggest image that might be used and scaling it down.
Even with vector art, you lose some image quality with scaling. You can't create new detail.

I still don't get why people are so concerned about this? Does anybody really care where other people are going? I guess if you are afraid of your wife finding it and discovering that you are hanging out at truck stops trading meth for certain favors then it could be an issue, but my wife already knows about this. In fact, she even comes along sometimes to take pictures.

I think the iPhone is going to be awesome! Since when can apple not jump in? Where did iTunes come from? That was almost instant! The iPhone should be equipt with similar programs such as iTunes and iPhoto. What I want to see is a 35" HD Television come out by Apple!

More likely that they are producing a higher res iMac display first.
Bingo. That or a higher resolution ACD (new 30" ?).
And this site has the most archaic, convoluted commenting sign-up/system I have ever seen.
I like the forum style a lot more than flat commenting a la Facebook and other blogs. Discussions are easier to follow and BBcode allows much more flexibility in posting. This is a forum, not some blog with 1-liner comments.

The only thing 64-bit gives you is more addressable memory. Oh, and some operations (like adding two doubles or longs) would only take one cycle on the integer unit, instead of more. Yeah... that's about it.
..and in the case of x86-64 (Intel and AMD) the 64 bit mode of operation allows the CPU to expose more registers for use at compile time (and few other improvements). This can improve optimizations that the compiler can make which can improve the performance of the application it builds.
Also the ability to do integer math using 64 bit wide registers with 64 bit wide functional unit can be a decent performance win for several types of tasks.

I want line items on every single thing spent.
This is my favorite visualization of the budget. http://wallstats.com/deathandtaxes/
However it sounds like you might just want to read the budget itself. It's only ~200 pages long: http://www.gpoaccess.gov/usbudget/fy11/index.html http://www.gpoaccess.gov/usbudget/fy11/pdf/budget.pdf
Unless that's not enough detail for you.

pro: one less disc to keep track of. my family already lost my iWork disc.
cons: what if i want to format the hard drive and restart from scratch? or even just archive and install? what if i completely replace my hard drive? what if i want to sell my mac and get a new one, would i retain the license or would the buyer get it? how would they reinstall the OS after I wipe the hard drive? how long is this going to take to download? will we be able and authorized to burn our own install DVDs from the downloaded software?

iCal has been visually overhauled to look like the iPad version
Very nice! I feel iCal was looking rather bland and needed some oomph.

If Apple were worried that Samsung would withdraw their products, Apple wouldn't have sued, or would have set up back up measures. They're not stupid!

How about this for WWDC:
--Talk about how great the switch to Intel is going
--Praise developers work on Universal apps
--Talk about pro software
--Sit down and preview Leopard
--Talk about new Core 2 Duo
--Oh, by the way the iMac I have been using has the new Core 2 Duo
(Conroe) in it (he seems to like to do this), shippng now
--We want our Pentium 4 Power Macs back...
--Introduce new Mac Pro (Woodcrest),
shipping now
--Talk about how transition to Intel is almost complete and will be by the end
of 2006
--Thanks for comng
One more thing...
--MBP with Core 2 Duo (to complete the Pro Line), shipping in two weeks
Line-by-line, I think that's the most accurate prediction to date.

Consider this, the upcoming keynote is NOT given by SJ but by one of the other Apple senior team members - following his (Steve’s) below par performance last time out... Now this news would be bigger than anything else. I’d even suggest that if he shares any floor-time with anyone else things are not looking good!
BTW I hope I am very, very, wrong and we are all talking about amazing new products by this time tomorrow.
Considering the Keynote isn't till 10AM tomorrow I doubt we will be talking about amazing new products this time tomorrow ;)
We will be speculating though :)
