Does anyone know if you can now print highlighted text like you can in Windows? Since they're adding the age old full-screen window feature, I think this feature would also be a welcome addition.
Don't forget the CUT. OS X still can't cut file and paste in another place.

The big deal is that i do not want buggy, resource stealing software on my mac. Simple as that.
Exactly, there's no reason for a Mac to need virus protection. Just a waste of CPU cycles, RAM, and disk IO.
And any PC user that doesn't have AV protection is just asking for it. It's not our responsibility to save their ass. Maybe if they actually do get a(nother) virus they will make the switch!

what are the odds that apple, in order to reinvent the mobile experience, has teamed with a voip chip maker etc. to provide mobile voice and video (ichat mobile) over IP?
this somehow makes more sense than co-branding a unit or "piggy backing" onto current carriers... then again, failure on this scale would be the biggest "jump the shark" moment in their history.

Well, I'm glad to see that Macrumors and Apple are at least able to focus on the big picture: product availability.

My house is not wired for ethernet. Which means, I would have to snake a wire through 3 floors, drill holes in the ceiling, etc etc. Its sooo much easier just to have airport. I have 3meg internet service and I cannot tell a difference between wired and wifi. My wireless will hit ~10mb/s transfer if I'm moving a large file from one computer to another. Obviously, that 10mb/s is faster then my 3meg internet service. My internet service is the bottleneck, not the wireless. Therefore....no difference in speed.
Second, I have BT keyboard, mouse, and phone. I use BT all the time. Sure, I can just order the option. However, that means I cant just run to my local apple store and pick up a Mac Pro. Its absolute crap that a ~$600 Macmini has these options standard, and yet Apples $4000 top of the line machine doesnt. Unacceptable.
I couldn't agree with you more. I'm almost in the exact same situation you're in and it doesn't make sense to me either. I've always felt the pro machine should incorporate everything a consumer model carries, plus pro features.
However, they're still pretty slick machines and I'm looking forward to getting one.

Thanks for that Chase. I think most people are choosing to run it so they don't act as some sort of 'Typhoid Mary' for any PC networks they connect to.

Ehh, purposeful or not (as a sabotage)...not good news for iPad competition:( Which isnt good news for us iPad users...Apple needs constant pressure to release revolutionary products.
The iPod hasn't see ANY competition in the past 10 years and they seem to be doing fine with pushing that product line.

This will make the perfect addition to my Space age Bachlor pad! dim lights, play slow music... ha ha.
what a laugh! I do like the idea. But I cant see myself buying one, unless I have a bunch of money to waste on something that wouldnt be especially productive for me.

I guarantee America has all the technology required to make components for a phone battery.
Yeah. They can build planes in Nigeria too.
Sheesh the amount of nationalism is ridiculous when it comes to these matters. It's a wide world out there. You're telling me some other outfit had either the knowledge and capability to bring the required components to fruition and scale to meet apple's demands? Why the heck did they get the Japanese got the contract then? Because they're not American?
Face it - America isn't the absolute best at absolutely everything.

dont forget the mbp revision
that will never happen
I hope you don't mean "never"... but I agree it's not likely to be tomorrow, unless it's tossed in as an aside ("We've released a bunch of great new products today... but what I want to tell you about is how you can use them to access movies through iTMS....").
Someday they'll have to update the MBPs, and I'm hoping it will be soon, because I need a new laptop!

Must stop rubbing the credit card, its about to melt. Be still my precious, only 28hrs to go.
[EDIT] Rubbing knees now, seem less important to have knees rather than a working credit card.

In 5-10 years the iPod will become extinct. By then the touch will be hanging on a thin wire.
I really do see this happening, it'll give way to the smartphone revolution. But, arguably, the pre-teen market will need it...

So what are our choices? We are in a hallway right now, I believe. So we can choose to explore the hallway or do we choose to go through another door and explore that room?

All depends on whether the (9+3) is on the top or bottom. As the OP typed it, it's on the top.
48/2(9+3) = 24 * 12 = 288
48/[2(9+3)] would've been = 2

Who said in another room? Sure if you want to operate it as a remote server, but workstations can very much benefit from being rack mountable.
I have a friend that shoots stills while being tethered to his Mac Pro. It is on a rolling standard rackmount cart but takes up a huge amount of space on it because it is too tall to lay on its side.
When he's done he rolls the cart into his edit room.
I know of other people who use Mac Pro on film shoots to offload video files from cameras and make backups, on the set. They arrive with carts and roll them around as needed. They say the same thing, "I wish it was rackmountable".
You are right, I fold. I know nothing about 19" racks (1.80 meters tall and 150 kg. in weight), and nothing about conditioned server rooms with dual power feeds at all. Flight cases with equipment I also know nothing about. I'm sorry I'm doubting your knowledge and insight.

2.16 and 2.33 Merom options
Magnetic latch
MacBook style keyboard
New video card (Nvidia?)
160GB hard drive option
IMO, these are the least that Apple can do to keep up with other high performance notebooks in the market. I think new MBP's will arrive one the same day as Photokina although they may not be highlighted at the event.
Please don't mess with the keyboard. The Macbook keyboard wouldn't suit the Macbook Pro.

Cloud based music and video streaming? LOL. Good luck doing that on 200MB cap with AT&T.
This is why the iPhone will never be sold unlocked in the US. I bet Apple would be forced to do another deal with AT&T and/or Verizon to give them somekind of a break on the data plans so these could-based services will be actually usable.

Not legally.
But what if you purchase 1,000 Mac upgrades. If you have a multi install license I bet that Apple does not send 1 dvd per license. This means that I could then legally use my installation disk a thousand times.
